影片不仅是《唐顿庄园》电影三部曲的完结篇，也标志着该系列长达15年（包括六季剧集）的完结。在《唐顿庄园：新纪元》中，20世纪20年代末期随着格兰瑟姆伯爵夫人（玛吉·史密斯 饰）的不幸去世，她的孙女玛丽·卡劳利将接手、操持唐顿庄园的运转。关于第三部的剧情，官方并没有透露更多信息。但执行制片人加雷斯·尼姆曾表示，将在这部影片中向饰演维奥莱特伯爵夫人的玛吉·史密斯女爵致敬。
电影《唐顿庄园3：盛大结局》将于9月12日在北美上映。
